Key takeaways
- You need an iPhone or iPad signed into iCloud with Bluetooth on. No companion app.
- Pull the battery tab, hold the Mist near your phone, and tap Connect — about 30 seconds.
- Name it, attach it, and test with Play Sound.
- Won't connect? A 10-second button hold resets it.
Before you start
Setup is quick, but make sure you have these first:
- An iPhone or iPad running a recent version of iOS/iPadOS, signed into iCloud with an Apple ID.
- Bluetooth turned on and you're connected to the internet.
- Your Tracker Mist, with the clear plastic battery tab still attached (it ships that way to save battery).
Pull the plastic battery tab out of the back of the tracker before you begin. If the button seems dead, this is almost always why — the tab keeps the battery from draining in transit.
Pair it with Find My
Wake the tracker
Press and hold the white button on the back for about 3 seconds until you hear a chime. This puts it in pairing mode.
Bring it close to your iPhone
Unlock your iPhone and hold the tracker within a few inches. A Connect card slides up automatically — no app needed.
Tap Connect
Your iPhone adds the tracker to the Find My network. If you don't see the prompt, open the Find My app → Items tab → Add Item → Other Supported Item.
Name it and attach it
Give the tracker a clear name like "House keys" or "Carry-on," pick an emoji, and finish. It now appears in your Find My Items tab on every device signed into your Apple ID.
Then attach it: drop it in the included key-ring case or any AirTag-compatible holder, tuck it in a bag or wallet, or clip it to luggage. Same coin shape as an AirTag, so existing accessories fit.
Test it before you rely on it
In Find My, select your new item and tap Play Sound. You should hear a chirp from the tracker. Try Directions to see it on the map, and ask Siri "Where are my keys?" to confirm voice search works. That's it — you're set.
Troubleshooting
The button doesn't do anything
Pull the clear battery tab first. If it's already out, the CR2032 battery may be flat — pop it out and swap in a fresh one.
No Connect prompt appears
Confirm Bluetooth is on and you're signed into iCloud, then hold the tracker closer. Restarting your iPhone clears most pairing hiccups.
"This item is linked to another Apple ID"
Reset the tracker: hold the white button for 10 seconds until you hear two beeps, then start pairing again.
Does it work on Android?
No — Tracker Mist uses Apple's Find My network and needs an iPhone or iPad to set up and locate. Here's how that network works.
Paired, named, and tested in under a minute. Now clip it to the thing you lose most and forget about it — until you need it.
